Paintings and sketches

Here are some of my paintings and sketches that I have completed during my time at The Art Institute of Atlanta. Most, however, were not done for any class. I hope you enjoy them!

Ideas for my advanced layout iPad magazine project

For my advanced layout class we are going to be working on a fully functioning interactive iPad magazine. Here are some of the ideas that I came up with for my project:
After considering all of those options, I chose vintage toys. I feel like this is the strongest of my ideas and will also prove to be a fun and unique project to peruse. After deciding on this idea I have begun working on my logo and some possible cover designs, as well as establishing some possible color palettes.

Here are my preliminary sketches:
here are some ideas for names, logo, and color palette

here are some ideas for the cover
Here are some possible color palettes and logos for the magazine:

I prefer the bottom logo design on the right and the second and fourth color palettes

Ideas for my senior project

So for my last year of school, there is one project that I will spend twenty weeks on, this project will hopefully be the most impressive piece in my portfolio (hopefully). This is where I will post my process toward narrowing down my ideas and so on and so forth from there.

So there's my mind map of ideas, and after much deliberation, I have narrowed it down to one large idea to pursue. However, this is not concrete and may change at any moment. I mean I am going to be working on it for twenty weeks, so I have to be confident in my concept.

  • An application to both aid those who are affected by memory loss diseases like Dementia, and their loved ones.
    • The app would include helpful information about memory loss diseases and give the user tips on how to help their loved one cope with what is happening to them. There would also be information for how to keep the sufferer calm and happy, since people who have diseases that affect memory tend to get angry and frustrated easily. So this aspect would include findings of others studies that have helped to alter the patients moods.
    • The app would also include a variety of memory aiding games for the people who are suffering from these diseases. This would both prolong the inevitable and strengthen their current mind. I feel like this aspect alone would be very helpful.
    • The application would be available on multiple platforms-computer, tablet, and phone
    • The game/games would be available on all of those plus a physical copy for those who do not have easy access to technology.
This idea came to me on a personal level, my grandmother suffers from Dementia and when I found that out there was not a lot of easily understandable information on it nor any tools to help. So I feel like something like this would have helped me and will help others.

As far as collateral for this concept I have thought of the following:
  • kinetic typography info graphics/commercials
  • website
  • brochures
  • books
  • posters
  • the physical game
  • flash cards
  • the actual application for tablet/phone
  • and maybe even a call center/help line

Sketchbook Dump (week 1)

Here are some of my many doodles and designs, I plan to do this at least once a week; but I cannot promise that I will always be punctual with the non-existant deadline that I have just given myself. I, however, do plan to keep up with this though.

These are pretty old and have been previously rendered digitally, but definitely need some updating.

this is one of the characters I came up with for a possible comic that I am currently considering doing

this is another possible character for the comic

this is a character I started working on for my boyfriend, it needs a lot of work

this is what Cher looks like to me lol, I need to fix her cheeks

this was a zombie I worked on last Easter(Zombie Jesus Day) I plan on doing one this year as well

this is yet another character design for that possible comic

this is a possible pet for that comic

Here are the digitally rendered versions of some of them, I plan to update the graphics for all of them when I have a bit more time on my hands.
Cher rendered digitally-needs updating

Polly rendered digitally-needs updating

the zombie rendered digitally-needs updating

and lastly the design for my boyfriend rendered digitally-needs updating
Oh and here are a few sketches from the 642 Things to Draw sketchbook that I recently purchased via Half.com for five bucks.(:

anchor/skunk/desk chair/Van Gogh's ear **wow my chairs suck--note to self work on chairs ASAP
In my next sketchbook dump I hope to have some reasonably decent chairs drawn, I will accomplish this!!

Ideas for a package design project

So here are some of my many ideas for an upcoming project in a package design class I am attending at The Art Institute of Atlanta:
  • Tattoo care product line- featuring lotions and soaps meant only for the care and up keep of your tattoo. Variations for new pieces to nearly healed pieces, as well as for sensitive skin and skin prone to breakouts.
    • would be in individually designed bottles, but would come in over all specialized packages for the individuals needs.
  • A care package for the homeless- a three level bag or sack with a variety of things a person may need. In level one, toiletries: tooth brush/tooth paste, toilet paper, sanitizer, dry shampoo/conditioner etc. In level two, food and drink: MRE (meals ready to eat), jugs to fill with water, canned goods, multitool utensils, napkins. In level three a blanket/pillow combination, dry detergent, and patches for clothing/shoes. **would be light weight and portable
    •  this care package would come in the form of a bag of some sort with individually designed containers for each of the products it will contain
  • A multi-tool for mechanics, allowing them to perform different tasks without switching tools
    • this would come in a cardboard container of some sort or a blister pack with a designed cardboard container
